Costa Rica on the move

President Oscar Arias of Costa Rica and Preside Ricardo Martinelli of Panama met on southern zone Airport again yesterday.

Panama supported the airport project in southern zone and infact had spoke of the possibility of jointly funding the project.

“We Already have the ground, but we want to explore the possibility of an airport to help tourism in Costa Rica and in Panama,” said Minister Rodrigo Arias while leaving the meeting with two representatives in the Presidential House.

Oscar Arias has only nine months of his term left and surely wants to take advantage of this good relationship with Panama to accomplish a good venture while in office.
 
“A large airport, such as in Liberia, it is important to develop the whole border area,” added the Minister.

During their two hour meeting, they spoke of the development of a free zone in the common border and strengthening of cooperation projects as well.

The beuatiful areas of the Costa Rica southern zone with benefit greatly form such a venture. The Real Estate opportunities will enormous, but employment, health care facilities and much more which are needed will also be benefactors as well.

Linking quepos and Dominal – a reality

I have lived in the southern zone for many years and often heard the rumors associated with the building of the new road between Dominical and Quepos.  In The last two years we have witnessed the reality of this road and now finally, the asphalt will go down.  President Óscar Arias Sánchez was in the area over the weekend and gave the symbolic go ahead to the final stage of the highway.  He also inaugurated a new bridge over the Río Naranjo between Savegre and Quepos. This is the fourth new bridge installed on this route.

Costa Rica Land Development, Tourism and general transportation will feel the immediate impact of this. The time will be reduced from 1 hour and 45 minutes to 35 minutes to arrive at Dominical from Quepos.  The new Bridge at Naranjo will impact greatly on travel time to the area as well. It was usually a wait of at least 15 minutes and often 30 minutes.

The 1,000,000 plus Tourists of Manuel Antonio have been held hostage for years due to the quality of this road and now will welcome the opportunity to visit the friendly, green area of the southern zone where mountains reach down to the sea.

The highway has been unmaintained gravel for years and a source of local air pollution as well had serious washout problems during the rainy season.
Officials now look to the work being finished in October, weather permitting.

 The Río Naranjo bridge is costing $2.8 million, and it is 198 meters (about 650 feet). The concrete beams are 56 meters (184 feet), the longest of any bridge in Central America. The other three bridges span the Rios Paquita, Portalón and Matapalo. Three more bridges are in construction.

There is a saying they get off the plane and forget their brain.  Once you get off the plane you are approached and solicited by many to buy property. How long have they been in business.  Can they provide references of clients recently worked with.  Do their agents have a background and personal experience in different areas of property . Are they totally informed regarding property in Costa Rica . Will they represent you and guide you through the complete buying process and not forget you after the sale .
 
Another important factor is to be legally represented . The attorney should specialize in real estate. The attorney should do ” due diligence” on the property making sure the property is legally registered -no liens- etc. Protecting you should be the legal objective.  Be careful of these statements – you do not need an attorney- we can do everything. If you fall for this- get your wallet out and be ready to donate.  If  the seller has an attorney – you need an attorney to represent you.
