Dear Robert:

After living in the States all of our life and seeing prices escalate, along with the standard of living going downhill, we thought of finding somewhere else to retire, affording us the opportunity to live within our means.  After much extensive research and making several trips to the country, we came across Costa Rica as an interesting place to explore.
As part of this search, we found a company called Costa Rica Retirement.  After meeting with this company several times, we were convinced that there was no other place to live that would afford us the opportunity to live in a country where there is affordable health care, housing, taxes, etc. and a place where Americans were well received.

Thanks to Costa Rica Retirement (Robert Shannon) and his connections with businessmen, attorneys, and his thorough knowledge of the country and its government, he guided us in a manner that would be difficult to explain.  It has been a very rewarding experience, both socially and financially.

Costa Rica is a third world country, so it takes some adjustment.  Infrastructure is not so good but rapidly changing.  The country is booming and there are nice small towns that have just about everything within close proximity to all the shopping, hospitals, and services that you might need.  The culture is unlike what we know from the U.S., Canada and Europe, but I might add, so acceptable that now many people from all over the world, as well as other South American countries, are coming here to live.  Basic Spanish is easy to pick up and English is becoming quite popular.

We have been living in Costa Rica for two years now and enjoying every day.  Climate is wonderful, people are friendly, and it is a good live (Pura Vida).  Thanks Robert.
